Maison Française: Hifilife continues to grow rapidly with its new stores in 2023. What is the story of this rapid breakthrough?

Burçin Bircanoğlu: We believe that every music lover should have a quality stereo system at home. We believe that the era of listening to mono music should be left behind and that stereo sound really makes a big difference. There are enjoyable systems that suit every budget. We have been on the list of Turkey's fastest growing technology companies 9 times since 2007. Rapid growth is in our DNA. When we create quality work in an empty space, we see the consumer's response. The products of the brands we offer in our stores and similar ones existed before we opened our stores, but only in catalogs and websites. There was no way to touch or try them. We made this possible.

New Hifilife stores were opened in Ankara in Panora AVM, Bodrum Yalıkavak Marina, İstinyePark İzmir AVM and İstinyePark İstanbul AVM. On the other hand, the existing store in Kanyon was expanded and redesigned and Turkey's first Focal powered by Naim store was opened.

MF: Each of the stores is also designed as an experience center. Can you tell us about this store design?

B. Bircanoğlu: As Hifilife, we consider our stores as a kind of theme park. There are experience areas where you can have different experiences for every taste and need. The common denominator of all our products is that they provide high-quality sound. We exhibit our products in four basic categories: The first is the “On the Go” category, which includes products that we use while on the go. This category usually includes headphones and portable speakers. The second is the “Flexible” category, which includes products that we can change their place and are part of the home decor, usually plugged in. The third is the “Staged” category, which includes speaker and television systems that create a music stage at home, special headphone amplifiers and connected hi-fi headphones. These systems are usually used fixedly in a specific place at home.

Finally, we have the category of “Custom”, or personalized architectural project sound systems. These systems are usually created during the construction or renovation projects of the house, as a result of the architect and the homeowner working together with us. Most of the time, these systems work in integration with smart home systems.

MF: What details were focused on during the design of the stores that could be related to the sound experience? B. Bircanoğlu: As Hifilife, we have entrusted our store experience to the experiences of our manufacturers. B&O is a very experienced manufacturer in retailing and B&O designed our space themselves. Our Focal spaces were also designed by Focal. The designs of the Sennheiser, KEF, and Klipsch spaces were shaped by the Malkoç team, which also undertook the construction processes of our stores. We take care to present our products in the way they will be found in your living space. A room with very special acoustic work is not very possible in our homes. We do not want our customers to be disappointed in their homes after experiencing a sound system in an acoustically flawless place. That is why our decoration completely reflects the home environment.

MF: Hifilife also includes different global brands. Which brands are these and what kind of a scale do they form? B. Bircanoğlu: Danish Bang&Olufsen's elegantly designed and superior sound quality products are a perfect example of sound meeting aesthetics. French Focal's speakers with extraordinary acoustic details offer an experience that makes music lovers live inside the sound. German Sennheiser's innovative headphone technologies bring all the nuances of sound to your ears. American Klipsch's dynamic sound performance sound systems turn your home into a concert hall. British Kef and Naim's high-quality hifi systems and unique design approach take musical pleasure to the highest level.
